Pick by who owns the background. The transparent avatar is the canonical mark. Use it everywhere you control the surface: pages, decks, print, diagrams. It carries no ground of its own, so it sits on cream, cobalt-50 or a photo without painting a plate behind itself. On dark surfaces reach for the white variant instead.

The two tiles bake their ground in on purpose. They are square, with the hex inset for safe-area padding, and they exist for the places you do not own the background: favicons, social avatars, app icons. Apple touch icons flatten transparency to black, and a profile picture lands on whatever a platform paints behind it. A cobalt hex on a black circle is why these two are opaque.

So the tiles are not "the logo for white pages". They are the logo for surfaces we cannot see. Never drop a tile into a layout you control: the transparent mark is correct there, and a tile would show a white or cobalt square the moment the surface behind it is tinted.

Gold variant uses a 3-stop gradient (#E5C447 → #C9A227 → #8B6914). Reserved exclusively for certified-partner contexts, partner cards, certification badges, completion certificates. Never as a primary brand mark in Conduction's own surfaces.

Never Nextcloud blue, that is a guest color reserved for the brand-word "Nextcloud" in copy and the workspace hex on platform diagrams, not for Conduction-built apps. Nextcloud blue is always solid #0082C9, never a gradient.
